Stuck on Disney – Final Project Site

My final site is a product oriented site for a new idea. My company is called “Stuck on Disney” and we offer custom Disney shaped cork boards for pin collectors and enthusiasts to display their collections in a stylish and tasteful way.

Since this is a new product, my site focuses on product customization and construction options. I purposely kept the site fairly simple and open to promote an honest and open feeling.  This site started off as just an interesting idea for this class, but I’m seriously considering moving forward (slowly) with this business concept. I think it is unique and has a clearly defined niche market.

Eat Disney – Final project site

My final project is called Eat Disney. I have set up the beginnings of my site for helping people set up a touring plan for dining while on vacation at Walt Disney World. Both Disney and food are passions for me. I am a self professed Disney fan and a foodie, and this idea joins both those passions!

Thanks for viewing my site!

Why I love where I live – Kellie Dolan

Alaska has always been my home. I was born and raised in Anchorage and moved to Fairbanks to attend UAF. I settled in Fairbanks and I am raising my family here.  I have always been proud to be from Alaska. We are a hearty group of people to live in the frozen north. The opportunities in Alaska are amazing. A fan of the outdoors or seeking urban fun, there is something here to enthrall everyone. In 2009, my family got a coveted Denali Park Road lottery pass. One word – Amazing! It was an extraordinary trip we will never forget. Seeing all the animals was breathtaking. But make sure you are not afraid of heights, driving through Polychrome Pass was interesting to say the least. My husband drove and I cringed through parts of that. But we got some amazing photos – well worth the bit of terror I felt!

Information Architecture

This article was very informative and eye opening. Webpage scanning was something that I never really thought of and now I know how big a factor it is when building a website. It was very interesting to find that unconsciously I scan a website a certain way and to realize a certain common layout of all websites.  There are certain website component have a set standard that almost all web designers stick too.  Some examples include: search options are somewhere on top and in the corners, the contact us is typically at the bottom of the page and the shopping cart and help is usually at the top right. After reading the article I realized how important each link, page or information needs to be strategically placed on my website.
